Dairy Free  Jam Splits Welsh Cakes

Welsh cakes or Pice Bach are traditionally made in Wales for St David's Day on March 1st

They originated in the 19th century and they have remained a staple in Welsh culture

6 Basic Ingredients

White Sugar, Egg, Salt, Plant Based Butter & Milk, Self Raising Flour

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing bowl

Let's Make Them!

Mix until a workable dough forms

The dough is ready once it loses its stickiness

Roll out on to a floured surface

Use a scalloped circle cutter to cut the cakes

Heat up your griddle to 325F / 160C

Bake each side for 3-4 minutes until the sides are lightly translucant

Turn over with a spatula

And heat the remaining side until lightly golden

Allow to cool for a few minutes, split in half then fill with homemade jam
