Why I Made This Recipe

I adore fudge! Growing up in the UK, fudge was always a special treat we bought from seaside towns, wrapped in charming little boxes with scenic postcards. I wanted to recreate that nostalgic, creamy sweetness in a way that’s safe for everyone and free from common allergens.

This recipe captures the joy of traditional fudge while being vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free so that anyone can enjoy a colourful, indulgent treat. Plus, it’s easy to customize for any holiday or celebration, and I’m sure you’ll love it!

Why You’ll Love This Allergy-Friendly Fudge

Whether you’re looking for a quick dessert, a homemade gift, or a fun activity with kids, this Funfetti White Chocolate Fudge is a guaranteed hit. Using allergy-friendly ingredients doesn’t mean sacrificing flavour, and this fudge is creamy, rich, and absolutely delightful. Plus, it’s easy to make on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Whether you’re making it for yourself or others, this fudge is:

  • Quick & Easy: Ready in under 10 minutes prep time.
  • Kid-Friendly & Fun: Colourful sprinkles make it a hit with little ones.
  • Allergy-Safe: Dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, and vegan.
  • Perfect for Gifting: Beautiful, colourful, and festive for parties or holidays.
  • Customizable: Swap extracts, sprinkles, or mix-ins to make it your own.

Ingredients and Substitutions

This vegan Funfetti White Chocolate Fudge is made with 7 allergy-safe ingredients that are gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free, so everyone can enjoy it. I’ve included my top tips and substitutions to ensure perfect fudge every time. Check out my FAQ for even more recipe ideas and variations!

Fudge ingredients measured in bowls including condensed oat milk, icing sugar, vanilla and almond extracts, white chocolate chips, sprinkles and butter.

White Chocolate Chips: Make sure they are dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. I recommend Enjoy Life; they melt beautifully and give a creamy texture without compromising flavour. Pro tip: Chop larger chips slightly if you want a smoother melt.

Condensed Milk: I use a 320 ml can of sweetened condensed oat milk. If your can is larger, increase the icing sugar slightly to keep the fudge from being too soft. If it’s smaller, reduce the sugar a bit. You can also sub with sweetened condensed coconut milk – both options are naturally gluten-free and keep the fudge creamy.

Plant-Based Butter: I recommend unsalted butter for balanced sweetness, but if you like a richer, slightly salty fudge, swap to salted or add 1 tsp salt. This helps cut the sweetness and enhances the chocolate flavour. Tip from experience: butter quality affects texture – stick with a high-fat, good-quality block-based plant-based butter. I personally avoid the tub-style butters as they tend to have a higher water content.

Flavouring: I use vanilla extract and imitation almond extract to capture that classic birthday-cake Funfetti flavour while keeping it nut-free. You can experiment with other extracts like lemon or coconut for seasonal twists or personal flair. This is where you can customize your fudge to suit any occasion.

Icing Sugar: Always sift your icing sugar if it’s lumpy. This ensures the fudge is smooth and silky. If your sugar is clumpy, it can leave little gritty bits in your finished fudge.

Sprinkles: Check the ingredients to make sure they meet your allergy requirements. I recommend using allergy-safe, gluten-free sprinkles. Fold half into the fudge and reserve the rest for the top – they add fun, colourful bursts in every bite.

How to Make Funfetti Fudge

Now that you have your ingredients ready, let’s start making this creamy, allergy-friendly funfetti fudge.

Grease and line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides. This keeps everything in place and makes it easier to remove the fudge once it has set. Top Tip: Use binder clips to hold the parchment in place.

A 8-inch square baking pan lined with parchmnent paper and with binder clips on the sides.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the chocolate chips, condensed milk and butter, stirring constantly until fully combined and smooth.

A saucepan containing white chocolate chips, butter and condensed oat milk before heating.

Remove from the heat just as everything is melted – overheating can cause the chocolate to seize and ruin the fudge. Stir in the vanilla and imitation almond extracts.

Gradually stir in the icing sugar. Sifting it first will prevent lumps and keep your fudge silky smooth.

Gently fold in half of the sprinkles, saving the rest for the top, and pour the fudge into the prepared pan. Pro Tip: careful folding prevents colour bleed from the sprinkles.

Use a spatula or wooden spoon to spread the fudge evenly, then add the remaining sprinkles on top.

Place the pan in the fridge to set for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight. Loosely cover the pan with foil to prevent any fridge odours from affecting the fudge.

Once set, remove the binder clips and use the parchment overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan.

Cut the slab of fudge into small squares with a sharp knife and enjoy immediately. Bonus Tip: Run your knife under warm water and wipe between cuts for clean edges every time.

Storage & Gift Ideas

This allergy-friendly Funfetti White Chocolate Fudge stays delicious and creamy when stored properly:

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. This keeps the fudge firm but soft enough to enjoy immediately.
  • Freezer: You can freeze fudge in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Let pieces thaw completely at room temperature before serving.

Pro Tip from experience: Layer squares of fudge between pieces of parchment to prevent sticking, especially if you’re storing in a small container.

Gift-Giving Tip:

This fudge makes a beautiful, festive gift! Cut into squares and place in food-safe bags or small boxes, then tie with ribbon for an easy, colourful treat that’s perfect for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, holidays, or thank-you gifts.

Common Fudge Questions

Here are some commonly asked questions about fudge making.

How many pieces of fudge does this recipe make?

This recipe yields approximately 16 2-inch squares of fudge. For clean cuts, I recommend cutting with a warm, sharp knife and wiping it between slices.

Can I make this fudge in the microwave, instead of using the stovetop?

Yes! Microwave the white chocolate, butter and condensed milk on medium power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each one until everything is fully melted and smooth. Total time is usually about 2 minutes.

What types of condensed milk can I use?

I use sweetened condensed oat milk to ensure this is a dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan option. You can also use sweetened condensed coconut milk. Sub with regular dairy condensed milk if you don’t need it to be dairy-free or vegan.

Can I adjust the sweetness of this fudge?

Yes! Add 1/2 tsp of salt to balance the sweetness, or swap the unsalted butter for salted butter.

Can I make different flavours or add other mix-ins?

Absolutely! This recipe is very adaptable. Swap sprinkles for freeze-dried raspberries for a fruity twist, or add matcha powder for a unique green tea flavour. You can also experiment with different extracts or add vegan chocolate chips to create your own signature flavour.

How should I store fudge for best results?

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Separate layers of squares in food-safe bags or boxes with parchment to prevent sticking.

Notes

  • Yield: Makes approximately 16 2-inch squares. I recommend cutting with a sharp knife. Wipe the knife between cuts for clean edges.
  • Microwave Method: To skip the stovetop, microwave the white chocolate, butter and condensed milk on medium power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until melted and smooth. This usually takes about 2 minutes.
  • Condensed Milk: Sweetened condensed oat milk keeps this recipe allergy-friendly. Sweetened condensed coconut milk works equally as well. If your can is larger than 320 ml, add a little extra icing sugar to maintain a firm texture. Sub with regular dairy condensed milk if you do not follow a dairy-free or vegan lifestyle.
  • Too Sweet?: Add 1/2 tsp of salt or swap the unsalted butter for salted butter to balance the sweetness.
  • Flavour Variations: Vanilla and imitation almond extract give a classic nut-free funfetti cake flavour. Swap extracts, switch the sprinkles for freeze-dried raspberries for a fruity, tangy contrast, or add matcha powder for a unique green tea flavour.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Freeze for up to 3 months and thaw fully before serving.
