Why I Made This Recipe

I love making no-bake treats that don’t need a ton of ingredients. Plus I am obsessed with coconut condensed milk and couldn’t wait to combine it with shredded coconut to make this bite-sized snack.

Why You Need This Recipe

No Mess. Just 3 ingredients. No Bake and thoroughly delicious. Allergy safe, school approved and my kids gave these coconut bliss balls a huge thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with these.

Ingredients and Substitutions

This vegan recipe uses just 3 simple pantry ingredients that will suit most major allergies. For more recipe suggestions, check out my FAQ section.

A can of coconut condensed milk, a bowl of shredded coconut and a small dish of white chocolate chips.

For this recipe, we are using 3 of my favourite ingredients:

Condensed milk: The truth is that I am addicted to sweetened coconut condensed milk. It is such a versatile ingredient and we always have a couple of cans in our pantry. It is perfect to add just the right amount of caramelly creaminess to recipes. Sub with dairy condensed milk if you are not vegan.

Coconut: You definitely want to use shredded coconut so that it will combine well with the condensed milk and not be too grainy or coarse.

Chocolate: you can skip the chocolate layer if you want but honestly, it makes such a difference to the bliss balls and I highly recommend it. I am using vegan white chocolate chips. You can read the full review of the brand that I used (Healthy Crunch) here. I also often use Enjoy Life white chocolate chips. Sub with your preferred chocolate.

How to Make Coconut Bliss Balls

There are only about 10 minutes of hands-on time for this recipe, to mix, shape and coat the bliss balls with chocolate. So simple! Let’s get to it!

Making the Balls

Combine the entire can of coconut condensed milk (240ml / 1 US Cup) and 200 grams (2 US Cups) of shredded coconut together in a bowl.

Removing coconut condensed milk from a can over a bowl of shredded coconut.

Stir together with a spatula until fully combined.

Using a small ice cream scoop, shape the mixture into balls and place them on a lined baking tray.

Place the baking tray in the fridge and allow to chill until the bliss balls are firm.

Adding Chocolate

Place 100 grams (1 US Cup) of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave at 30-second intervals and stir until the chocolate is smooth.

Using a fork, dip the coconut balls in the chocolate, ensuring that all sides are covered.

Allow to set on the baking tray then enjoy! Look how lovely they are inside. We have a nice thin layer of chocolate and the texture of the coconut balls is just perfect. I can’t wait to dig into these and also hear what you think of them.

Storage and Freezing

Storage: These coconut bliss balls can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Freezer: Place the bliss balls on a baking tray to freeze them solid then transfer to an airtight container for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge for a few hours before serving.

Common Questions

How many coconut bliss balls does this recipe make?

This recipe makes approximately 15 coconut bliss balls. Feel free to make them larger or smaller depending on which scoop you use.

What other toppings can I use?

Feel free to swap out the chocolate for your favourite brand and drizzle extra on top of the outer layer. I also like adding freeze-dried berries to the top, gold leaf to fancy them up a bit and also sprinkles for special occasions.

I can’t find coconut condensed milk at my local store. Can I use something else?

Absolutely. Nature’s Charm also sells oat-based condensed milk. And of course, if you are not dairy-free, sub with regular condensed milk.

Is this recipe gluten-free?

Yes. Both the shredded coconut and coconut condensed milk are naturally gluten-free. Double-check the chocolate that you use. The brand that I used in this recipe, Healthy Crunch, is gluten-free.

Can I use regular sweetened condensed milk instead of coconut condensed milk?

Absolutely! If you are not vegan or dairy-free, you can swap the coconut condensed milk with regular sweetened condensed milk. The bliss balls will still be sweet and delicious.
