Our Canadian Story

Canada Day always feels a little extra special in our home. My husband and I emigrated from Wales in 2009, and becoming Canadian citizens remains one of our proudest moments. Over the years, I’ve embraced so many Canadian traditions, and as a baker, that naturally includes learning to make some of Canada’s most beloved desserts.

One recipe that holds a special place in my heart is the humble butter tart. While there are many stories about its origins, butter tarts have deep roots in Ontario, and I love that one of Canada’s most iconic desserts is closely connected to the province we now call home. Every Canada Day, you’ll find at least one maple dessert on our table, alongside plenty of red and white treats to celebrate the country we’re proud to call home.
